AEF  is a nonprofit 501(c)3 foundation dedicated to supporting our public schools by raising funds from the community.

 

 

 

AEF was established in 1991 by concerned parents to address the increasing shortfall in public funds available to maintain the margin of excellence essential for our students to succeed and excel in our global society.

 

 

The state of Colorado has endured years of chronic budget cuts and underfunding that significantly compromise the quality of our public education system.  Colorado ranks 40th out of 50 states in spending per student based on Education Week’s January 2009 Quality Counts report.  The Aspen School District’s per pupil funding is $1,400 per student below the national average.
